ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 11th June, “Holy Communion” will take place. Please come along and join in!

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

SPEEDWATCH: Community Road Safety is the new title for the revamped Speed Watch Scheme designed to deter speeding vehicles in the community and operated by a group of local volunteers. Observant drivers will have noticed the radar gun and the operators carrying out the procedure in the village main street on more than one occasion over the last two weeks, if not the letters in the post. Please slow down and keep within the limits in the village.

KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am.   Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local association will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday 28th June at the usual time of 2:30pm.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The Art Group meets every Friday morning in the Village Hall, and from time to time they have a professional artist to provide new ideas and help members develop further. So far this year they have had a lively 2017 programme with several guest experts – on 7th April with Gwen Scott – the group produced some very nice poppies in watercolour and these and other paintings can be seen on the groups new website which you might explore at Sutton Art Group

On the 27th to 29th May there will be the 2nd Annual Retford Arts Festival, and we are to exhibit at Grove Street Methodist Church – proceed through the church to the room known as The Albert Hall!  Also, one of our members is giving a talk at 2pm on Monday 29th May at St Swithuns Church – the title is Art in the Balkans – an illustrated talk based on observations on a touring holiday.

The whole day coach trip to The Ferens Art Gallery in Hull (the 2017 UK City of Culture) is on Saturday 10th June leaving the village hall at 9:00am. Admission is free and apparently, they have a very nice café. Additionally, there are plenty of other cultural venues to be explored in the vicinity including The Deep. The trip is open to non-members of the Group and there are only a few seats left at £15 per person. If you are interested don’t delay in making an enquiry to David on 709809 or through email artgroup@suttoncumlound.net

GARDENING CLUB: On the 2nd May Sheila Clarke gave an inspirational talk called A Garden Odyssey which was followed by the making of a beautiful flower arrangement which was raffled off – what a treat we had. She was quirky, funny and informative. There was a follow-up to the talk on the Tuesday 6th June with a visit to Sheila’s National Garden Scheme garden at Walkeringham. A full report will follow.
