ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 30th July there is a “Charity Service” at the local church, where everyone is welcome. It is hoped Parishioner’s will show their support at this service.



A.S.B.: Concerns have been raised by several residents about a spate of Anti-Social Behaviour incidents taking place in the Portland Place Area of the village.  These have been reported to various groups and agencies including, Bassetlaw District Council, Parish Council, Neighbourhood Watch, Police to name but a few. Despite various requests and warnings these incidents continue to go unchecked and are proving a strain on ordinary law-abiding residents in the area who fear reprisals for reporting the same. Details of the happenings are being forwarded to John Mann MP and District and County Councillor Tracey Taylor for help and advice.

PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton Parish Council will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday 9th August in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7.00pm. Villagers and interested parties are invited to join them.

GATE INN: After a very successful Comedy Night at the local hostelry, another event of a similar nature has been arranged and will take place on Friday 11th August.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Please note that there is no official meeting of the group in August.

Some members like to meet with their peers during August (to avoid withdrawal symptoms) and it has been suggested that a trip to Gainsborough Old Hall take place on Wednesday 16th August to have a look at the exhibit of clothes from the TV series “Wolf Hall”. This would be combined with the August meal out and would incorporate afternoon tea at the Chambers Café within the hall grounds. NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association held its meeting on Wednesday 26th July at the usual time of 2:30pm.

GARDENING CLUB: At the recent Sutton Show held on Sunday 16th July at the Sutton cum Lound C of E school in the village at which the local gardening club had a stall. This proved to be a very successful event for the group who have managed to raise a total sum of £85.88p. The organisers would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the stall. They had a lovely selection of plants to sell and other garden related items and a special thankyou to all members who manned the stalls and gave their time so freely. KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am.   Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group continue to meet at the Gate Inn on the second Wednesday of each month for a communal lunch. PLEASE NOTE THT THERE IS NO MEETING OF THE GROUP IN AUGUST!
