ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 20th August “A Family Service” will take place at the local church. Please come along and bring the family. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

On Thursday 24th August “St. Bartholomew’s Day” will be celebrated with Holy Communion taking place in church at 6:00pm – again everyone welcome.


NETWORK RAIL: Network Rail advise of improvement work between Torworth level crossing and Botany Bay crossing, which includes Sutton and Barnby Moor crossing on Station Road. Work will commence on Saturday 19th August from 23:45 to 08:25 on Sunday 20th August 2017.

The work will involve the removal of old rails that are currently located near the running lines as these rails are potential risk to an operational railway. These are being removed in order to maintain a safe and reliable railway. The work will include the use of hand tools, lighting and generators. The main work will require the use of on-track machine, which will generate some noise. The equipment used means some disturbance is unavoidable but every effort will be made to minimise any unnecessary noise. Network Rail apologise for any inconvenience caused by these essential workings, which will continue over the next few weekends. Dates and times to be advised.

VINTAGE TEA PARTY: Please note that the Vintage Tea Parties advertised in the Spotlight and held in the Village Hall are cancelled until further notice.

PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton Parish Council held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 9th August in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm. Vice Chairman Rob Boeuf presided at this meeting in the absence of the Chair, supported by six councillors and clerk to council Nigel Johnson on hand to record the proceedings.

On the opening of the meeting and the general welcome the acting chair was pleased to welcome local man and long term village resident Robert Holland to the council. His support for council over many years and his local knowledge would be a great asset to the group. Various topics were discussed during the evening including: finance, planning, and an update on Speedwatch, Fracking in the area, Neighbourhood Watch, Crematoriums and Neighbourhood Planning.

KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am.   Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.
