ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Songs of Praise” will take place at the local church on Sunday 27th August.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

PLANNING APPLICATIONS: Planning applications for two crematoria close to Barnby Moor have been granted.

LOCAL MINERAL PLAN: NCC have put on hold planning for two quarries in Barnby Moor.

NETWORK RAIL: Network Rail advise of improvement work between Torworth level crossing and Botany Bay crossing, which includes Sutton and Barnby Moor crossing on Station Road. Work will commence on Saturday 19th August from 23:45 to 08:25 on Sunday 20th August 2017.

The work will involve the removal of old rails that are currently located near the running lines as these rails are potential risk to an operational railway. These are being removed in order to maintain a safe and reliable railway. The work will include the use of hand tools, lighting and generators. The main work will require the use of on-track machine, which will generate some noise. The equipment used means some disturbance is unavoidable but every effort will be made to minimise any unnecessary noise. Network Rail apologise for any inconvenience caused by these essential workings, which will continue over the next few weekends. Dates and times to be advised.

SUTTON SPEED WATCH: Observant motorists or unlucky in some cases will have noticed the local Speed Watch Team out and about in recent days. The volunteers are making a huge impact in the village with regards to speeding vehicles and helping to keep villagers safe with their efforts. Please support them by slowing down and keeping within the speed limits when passing through the village. Thank you.

BARNBY MOOR PARISH COUNCIL OFFER DATES FOR YOUR DIARY: The Annual Village Cricket Match is scheduled to take place on Sunday 3rd September 2017 from 3:30pm onwards. The event will take place on the village playing field (at the end of Kennel Drive/the drive leading to the village hall). The White Horse vs The Olde Bell.

You are invited to come along, bring a picnic and support your favourite team.

On Saturday 9th September 2017 the village will hold its first annual Barnby Moor Sausage Festival and BBQ. An evening with Mr Dennis Elliot, from Sausage Solutions – Senior UK technical Judge and recent ‘Best product in show ‘at Bakewell Show earlier this month. Dennis will be demonstrating sausage making and BBQing. Bring your own drinks and nibbles and enjoy a social evening with a difference. KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am.   Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.
