SUTTON ART GROUP: The Art Group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall, and from time to time they have a professional artist to provide new ideas and help members develop further. It’s all been a bit quiet at the art group for the last few weeks, with many of their members enjoying holidays or spending time with family, so no guest artists over August. That hasn’t stopped the group painting though and on their ‘Our Art’ page several new entries which have been completed over the summer, and of course, members have been busy beavering away at paintings to enter in  this year’s Sutton Show, which took place on Sunday 10th September.

The group’s diary is filling up for the run up to Christmas, when guest artist, Elaine Nash, started off the proceedings on Friday (8th Sept) with a workshop on ‘Painting a Poem’. Members are busy searching for a piece of poetry to illustrate. Watch out for the results!!

Further details of the group and its activities are available from Joan Reiter on (01777) 702 137.

GARDENING CLUB: On Sunday 10th September, Sutton Flower and Produce show took place in Sutton Village Hall. Inclement weather, plus villagers on holidays and away days resulted in a somewhat reduced attendance compared to previous years. Those who did attend were in good spirit and keen to view the various stalls not forgetting the flowers and produce on show. Although down in numbers attendance wise, the group were pleased when a record number of exhibits were entered in the show; 185 entries in total!

As well as the exhibits the members also ran a tombola stall, a raffle and an impromptu auction for any produce left at the end of the session. After the usual deductions the committee were pleased to announce a total of £189.59 profit which is destined for club funds. A big thank you to everyone who supported the show, especially those who helped to make the show possible by helping to set up the hall and manning the stalls. Well done all!
