ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 1st October a “Harvest Festival” service will take place at the local church.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

GARDENING CLUB:   On Tuesday 3rd October, Rob Potterton will address the members on Alpines and bulbs from Mountain to Market. Alpines and bulbs will be on sale on the night. Well worth a visit! (A small cover charge applies to non-members).

PCSO: Some villagers are already aware the village now has a new PCSO covering the area, due to a change in shift patterns and rotas. For information or advice please contact PCSO Lucy Campion on 07525 989 445. Please say hello and make her feel welcome when you see her in the village. Villagers are asked to support the new incumbent as we did with the previous postholder PCSO Claire Walker who takes over a new area and goes forward with thanks and good wishes from the community at large.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The Mobile Library will next visit the village on Monday 9th October and will stop at the following locations:

  • Sutton Cross Roads (9:40am)
  • 46 Station Road (10:00am)
  • 22 Station Roadd (10:10am)
  • Town Street (10:25am)
  • Portland Meadows (10:45am)
  • Portland Place Garages (10:55am)

Visiting days will be notified each month.

SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: Work is about to start on the ‘Tinker Lane’ exploratory borehole off the A634 Blyth to Barnby Moor Road. Sutton Parish Council are hosting a drop in session to update the village on Friday 29th September at Sutton Village Hall from 18:00 to 21:00.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local Neighbourhood Watch Committee group met as usual for their monthly meeting on Wednesday 27th September at the usual time of 2:30pm.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor WI. Met on Wednesday 20th September in Sutton Village Hall at 7:15pm the speaker was Michael Knight. The members were informed of the use of electricity in the home, use of appliances safely, do’s and don’ts and safety in general, and when and why home inspections are advisable in the home for the safety of all.

KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am.   Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group continue to meet at the Gate Inn on the second Wednesday of each month for a communal lunch. Further details about the group and its activities are available from group leader Joan Reiter on (01777) 702 137.
