ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 5th November, an “All Saints’ Day Service” will take place.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

CAR BOOT AND TABLE-TOP SALE: The next car boot and table-top sale will take place on Sunday 5th November at the Village Hall, and continue on the first Sunday of the month thereafter. The event will run from 10:00am until 1:00pm (sellers from 9:00am). Free public admission and car parking. Sellers £5.00 per pitch – limited indoor tables – so book early! Refreshments available on the day and a tombola stall will operate.

FRACKING UPDATE: Tinker Lane Exploratory Borehole near Barnby Moor.  Status as of 26th October 2017.

IGas Energy have now completed Section 106 requirements imposed by Nottinghamshire County Council Minerals Planning Authority. Work has started at Tinker lane and already passers-by will have seen contractors working at the site entrance installing rubber mats facilitate access for heavy equipment. HERAS fencing is being installed around the perimeter of the site.

Over the next few weeks the pace of works will increase, ground water monitoring boreholes will be drilled and monitored for 3 months prior to the drilling programme itself. It is currently estimated that major construction works to form the drilling pad will take place in Q1 next year with drilling of the borehole to a depth of around 1,800 metres to follow.

MOBILE LIBRARY: The Mobile Library will next visit the village on Monday 6th November and will stop at the following locations:

  • Sutton crossroads (9:40am)
  • 46 Station Road (10:00am)
  • 22 Station Road (10:10am)
  • Town Street (10:25am)
  • Portland Meadows (10:45am)
  • Portland Place Garages (10:55am)

Visiting days will be notified each month.

SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: When the club meet on Tuesday 7th November in Sutton Village Hall, Neill Timm who owns a Fern Nursery, will address the gathering on the subject “A World of Ferns”. The event starts at the usual time of 7:15pm.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The next meeting of the group will be on Wednesday 8th November at the Gate Inn at the usual time of 1:00pm when neighbours will join together for a communal meal. Please inform organiser Joan Reiter if you will be attending on the day.

PARISH COUNCIL: Sutton Parish Council will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday 8th November in the Village Hall at the usual starting time of 7:00pm. Members of the public are invited to join them.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The group committee held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 25th October at the usual time of 2:30pm, with Marilyn Boeuf in the chair. Various items came under discussion.

KEEP FIT CLASSES: Keep fit classes continue in the Village Hall every Saturday morning between 9:00am and 9:45am. Come along and join them, you may lose a few pounds.
