ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 3rd December, being the first Sunday in Advent, an Advent and Carol Service will take place at the at the local church.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.


TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY: This year the Tree Lighting Ceremony is on Saturday 2nd December at 5:30pm. Villagers and friends are invited to assemble on the small green at the junction of Station Road and Sutton Lane.

Reverend Liz Thomas will bless the tree before the lights are switched on. This will be followed by traditional carols from Harworth Brass band ably assisted by the school choir from Sutton cum Lound C of E School.

Complementary refreshments of home made mulled wine and mince pies will bring the event to a close. The Parish Council funds the Tree Lighting event and like to wish the community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

CAR BOOT AND TABLE-TOP SALE: The next car boot and table-top sale will take place on Sunday 3rd December at the Village Hall, from 10:00am until 1:00pm (sellers from 9:00am).

Free public admission and parking, sellers £5 per pitch. Refreshments available on the day and a tombola stall will operate. Well worth a look – bring the family.

SANTA’S VISIT: Santa will be making a visit to the village (curtesy of North Notts Lions) on Wednesday 6th December from approximately 5:00pm. Volunteers from North Notts Lions will once again be touring the local streets with Santa in his sleigh so little and not so little children can meet Father Christmas in the run up to the festivities.

SUTTON LEVEL CROSSING: Residents are advised that the crossing on Station Road in the village will be closed to traffic from 23:55 on Friday 8th December 2017 until 05:30 on Saturday 9th December 2017. Railtrack apologise for any inconvenience caused.

BURNS SUPPER: After fifteen successful years of Burns Suppers in the village, the Burns Team who organised the event have decided, after great consideration, to take a break from the celebration of Scotland’s famous Bard.  They would like to thank everyone for their support over the years, which made the event the success it was.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The group committee held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 29th November at the usual time of 2:30pm and a report will follow.
