ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 10th December, “Holy Communion” will take place at the at the local church.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
SUTTON LEVEL CROSSING: Residents are advised that the crossing on Station Road in the village will be closed to traffic from 23:55 on Friday 8th December 2017 until 05:30 on Saturday 9th December 2017. Railtrack apologise for any inconvenience caused.
VINTAGE TEAS: The next Vintage Teas Party is arranged for Saturday afternoon, 16th December, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm. Roll back the years, come along and meet your friends and enjoy a cuppa’ in the best china cups – what else? A selection of various teas are available and some homemade cake and scones usually available (just like mother used to make). Tea and cake for only £2.50 cover charge and a chance to catch up on all the latest news from in and around the village.

SANTA’S VISIT: Santa made a visit to the village (curtesy of North Notts Lions) on Wednesday 6th December from approximately 5:00pm. Volunteers from North Notts Lions once again toured the local streets with Santa in his sleigh. A door to door collection took place during the visit allowing the Lions to continue their charity works and support a host various activities in the rural communities.
TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY: The tree lighting ceremony took place on the village green as scheduled on Saturday 2nd December at 5:30pm. A larger crowd than usual turned out on the night thought to be in excess of 60 people (counted after the Mulled Wine!) This well planned event, sponsored and arranged by the Parish Council, was warmly welcomed by those present.
Lighting display officer Councillor Louise Ashmore (Motto: We need more lights) arranged a spectacular display around the green, many villagers commenting on the improvement on previous years displays. After the blessing had taken place, Harworth Brass Band played a selection of seasonal carols accompanied by the choir from Sutton cum Lound C of E School. Musical accompaniment provided by local choir master Geoff Webb.
At the end of the scheduled programme those in attendance were offered complementary refreshments of mulled wine and mince pies. The homemade wine being supplied by local couple (from a secret recipe) village stalwarts John Jones and Margaret, as it has been for many years! The homemade mince pies, supplied by local chef and former butler Nigel Bowers are were soon devoured at great speed, as the festive season continues and gathers momentum throughout the village. Thanks goes to all concerned.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The group committee held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 29th November at the usual time of 2:30pm. No Police report was available at the time, no major incidents had been reported, a discussion ensued with regards to local matters in and around the village.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The Art Group continue to meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall.
