ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 15th February “A Family Service” will take place at the local church. Please come along and bring the family.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN REFERENDUM: The referendum for Sutton’s Neighbourhood Plan has been set for Thursday 15th February at the Village Hall. It is hoped that the village will continue to support the Plan and this is the final stage in the process. Please contact the Steering Group on (01777) 717 619 if you have any queries regarding the Plan or the referendum.

Notice of Referendum: Bassetlaw District Council will send Polling cards to everyone in the coming weeks and you just need to be registered to vote. If you have any queries regarding the referendum or the Neighbourhood Plan, please contact us at chair@suttoncumlound-neighbourhoodplan.net  or Simon on (01777) 717 619. The support received so far has been brilliant and it is hoped that everyone at the same time and same venue can vote on the 15th February to ensure that the Plan is put in place for the benefit of all concerned.

Polling is open at Sutton Village Hall from 7:00am until 10:00pm on Thursday.

SUTTON SNAPPERS: Change of day and venue! The group will meet on Friday 16th Februaryv  at 10:00am at TUXFORD WINDMILL for a guided tour and lots of photo opportunities, some great landscape views.

Afterwards there’s coffee and cake in the restaurant. Hilary’s very kindly put together a provisional programme for us to work on. We can discuss it next Friday over tea and buns? Interested parties always welcome.

VINTAGE TEAS: The next Vintage teas will take place on Saturday 17th February at the Village Hall. It is essential for those requiring a full vintage tea to book by ringing Judi on 07970 052 055 to arrange them. This is to avoid disappointment as more and more people are wishing to attend.

Villagers and friends are invited to call in, if passing, to enjoy an afternoon cuppa and a nice piece of cake and socialise for the afternoon with friends and neighbours. You know it makes sense!

MEDIUMSHIP AT THE GATE INN: We are very pleased to announce we are hosting another night of mediumship at The Gate Inn hosted by Ann Anderson. Tickets are available now at £8.00 per ticket.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The Ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor WI will meet on Wednesday 21st February in Sutton Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. The guest speaker on this occasion is still to be arranged.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The next meeting of the local Neighbourhood Watch Committee will be taking place on Wednesday 28th February at the usual time of 2:30pm. It is hoped on this occasion the group will be hosting a visiting speaker who will update them on the latest happenings on Neighbourhood in general.

COMPUTER CLUB: Due to illness the computer club sessions have been suspended temporarily and notification of a re-start will be advised.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Neighbours group met on Wednesday 14th February and after a very enjoyable lunch, there was a quiz and a fun raffle. The group then socialised for the rest of the afternoon. Details of the group and its activities are available from Joan Reiter on 07990 702 445.

SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: The Council met on Wednesday 14th February in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm and a report will follow.

GARDENING CLUB: The Gardening Club met as scheduled on Tuesday February 6th when Penny Forsyth addressed the group on Bee keeping – Life of a Bee Keeper/ Tasting of different honey related to different plants. Products were on sale on the night. A group of about 30 people attended on the night and were fully entertained by a lady who certainly knows her stuff and completed her talk without the use of notes or a prepared script. A true professional and very much appreciated on the night.

GATE INN: Regular quizzers were treated to an entertaining quiz from Ken last Sunday with the £20 prize going to Steve and Sarah. Play your cards wasn’t won and the quest to find the winner of the £200 jackpot continues, and it will be on offer again next week. Steph’s in the Chair next Sunday for a general knowledge quiz which starts as usual at 8:00pm and everybody is welcome.
