GARDENING CLUB: The club met as scheduled on Tuesday 6th March in Sutton Village Hall at 7:15pm. A group of 20 people gathered to listen to guest speaker Annette McKenzie not only talk about Owls but see a real live one at close quarters. Yes! – Annette had brought with her a Barn Owl, who seemed at home here at Sutton and soon settled in with the home crowd. The speaker gave a short resume about owls in general and accepted questions from the floor as the talk proceeded. This topic was followed up with a talk about birds in your garden, (or lack of same) with tips, help and advice re attracting, feeding and nesting boxes amongst a variety of ideas tried and tested over many years. Various owl related items were on sale during the evening, and at the end of the presentation members were invited to pose or take pictures with Annette and the owl. This went down a hoot with the group, flying to get a prime spot and pose.
