ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 25th March, “Songs of Praise” will take place.

The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

YOUTH CLUB: A Youth Club now operates in the village from 7:30pm to 8:30pm every Tuesday night (except 1st Tuesday in month) and is held in the Village Hall. The event is run by Notts County Council Youth Workers and is open to anyone age 11 and above. The sessions will have a Tuck shop, drinks, and games sessions including Darts and Ping-Pong to name but a few. New members always welcome.

CAR BOOT AND TABLE TOP SALE: The next car boot and table-top sale will take place on Sunday 8th April at the Village Hall, from 10:00am until 1:00pm (sellers from 9:00am). Free public admission and parking, sellers £5.00 per pitch. Refreshments available on the day and a tombola stall will operate. Could be a bargain waiting for you? NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The next meeting of the committee of the local association will take place on Wednesday 28th March 2018 at the usual time of 2:30pm.

GATE INN: With freezing temperatures and snow on the ground the Gate Inn was still busy for the weekly Sunday quiz. The quizmaster was Andy who presented an entertaining quiz which was won by the Worksop Mob who picked up the £20 prize. Play your cards wasn’t won. Next Sundays quiz will start as usual at 8:00pm.    Everybody welcome.

IDLE IMAGES: Formerly known as Sutton Snappers met on Thursday 15th March in Sutton Village Hall at 10:00am as scheduled. Two members of the group, organiser Ron Beare and Rob Boeuf spent time beforehand assembling a makeshift studio complete with screens/tents/umbrellas and a selection of various types of lighting set ups. Two of the others present were encouraged to sit for a variety of poses to demonstrate the effects lighting can have on subject matter. The group will meet again in two weeks, when a different topic will be examined.

GARDENING CLUB:   When the club meet on Tuesday 3rd of April it will be the occasion of their AGM. There will be no speaker on the night, but members present will be able to elect a new committee and discuss plans for the forthcoming season. Wine and nibbles will be available at the session and those attending can socialise with their peers.

VINTAGES TEAS: The Village Hall was a bit quieter than usual when the Vintage Tea session took place! This was mainly due to adverse weather conditions, which affected attendances, not only locally but nationally. Those who did brave the elements were more than satisfied with their choices of afternoon teas and appreciated the company for the afternoon, and the one or two new faces present.

Customers are reminded that It is essential for those requiring a full vintage tea to book by ringing Judi on 07970 052 055 to arrange same, this is to avoid disappointment as more and more people are wishing to attend this very popular event.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Neighbours group held their monthly meeting at the Gate Inn on Wednesday 14th March at the usual time of 1:00pm. Details of the group and its activities are available from Joan Reiter on 07990 702 445.

PARISH COUNCIL: The council met on Wednesday 14th March in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm  and the meeting was conducted swiftly and efficiently. Six councillors present on the night with two apologies due to work commitments and a resignation by one councillor due to relocation. Clerk to the council Nigel John was on hand to record the proceedings and advise where needed. Apologies were received on behalf of District/County Councillor Tracey Taylor.

A full agenda was progressed, with a large percentage of the meeting taken up by planning and any objections raised against same. A well planned, well organised meeting by councillors working on your behalf.
