SANTA CLAUS: Santa Claus or Father Christmas will be visiting the village on Tuesday 27th November, accompanied by North Notts Lions with their usual sleigh. A door to door collection will be taking place during this visit by the Lions team who support various local charities throughout the year. Please give them your support.
All volunteers, the Lions team will be visiting the villages of North Notts, up to a few nights before Christmas. A tremendous effort and well worth supporting. Well done Lions!
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: The tree lighting ceremony will take place on Saturday 1st December at 5:30pm on the village green at the junction of Station Road and Town Street.
DOG WALK: PLEASE NOTE The community dog walk scheduled Sunday 2nd December has unfortunately had to be cancelled, partly due to lack of support and commitment, plus the extra pressures that arrives with the approach of the festive season. Many dog owners along with other villagers having various other appointments to fulfil in the run up to Christmas and beyond.
GARDENING CLUB: Anyone wishing to go to the Christmas table decoration / swag / wreath workshop on the 4th December, led by Sally Barker, will need to pay £5.00 per person at November’s meeting to book their place as this is a ticket only event. Please also book at this November’s meeting for the Christmas meal which is on Saturday 8th December and will be £15.00 per person. Can all stubs and raffle monies be given to treasurer by 4th December at the latest please, as the tickets will have to be folded in preparation for the draw at the meal on 8th December.
The first meeting in the new year will be Tuesday 8th January 2019 (as the first Tuesday of the month is the 1st January, and although members are keen, none of them wish a meeting on New Year’s Day!) This meeting will be the annual quiz and will be held again in Barnby Moor village hall. Future meetings will revert to the first Tuesday of the month, unless otherwise stated.

CAROL SINGING: Carol singing will take place at the Village Hall on Thursday 20th December. Further details to follow.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Neighbours Group met on Wednesday 21st November at 1:15 in the Village Hall, and a report will follow.
CHURCH SERVICE: Another good turn out at the local church on Sunday 18th November when families and friends came together to worship. The service was conducted by the local vicar, Reverend Cora Yarrien, assisted by reader Joan Herrington, Dylan Boddy, Janet Webb, Mark Adams and organist Geof Webb. After the service those in attendance were invited to stay for refreshments. The Vicar joined those staying for refreshments and made visitors and regular attenders most welcome Refreshments over, those in attendance socialised with their peers after an enjoyable service!
BARNBY MOOR FUNDRAISER: The coffee morning held at Barnby Moor village hall on behalf of the recent tsunami disaster was a success, but a somewhat limited success due to a lack of support from local residents and friends. Visitors were invited to join the volunteers for teas/coffees and delicious and very welcome bacon sandwiches as well as cakes biscuits and much much more. SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday 14th November in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm. A full report will follow.
YOUTH CLUB: The Youth Club continue to meet during term time on a Tuesday night in the Village Hall (except for the first Tuesday in the month) from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. New members are always welcome.
A few Tickets remain for the club’s forthcoming Christmas Draw which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 8th December, with major prizes to be won.
QUIZ NIGHT: The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. 8:00pm start and bar open.
