WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met on Wednesday 16th January, invited speaker Dominic Schad from Muddy Fork enlightened the members on the work done on the Idle Valley gardens. Part of the talk entailed the growing and the use of wicker for basket making and after a demonstration members were invited to try their hand at making a bird feeder from the same materials, with encouraging results! A very interesting and educational evening! Refreshment was in the capable hands of Mavis Bradley and Sally Palmer. Members old and new always welcome.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: Not as large a turnout as normal when the neighbours group held their first meeting of the New Year in the Village Hall! A group of 30 plus were in attendance to enjoy a delicious chicken casserole prepared by local chef and caterer Nigel Bower. A sweet was then served followed by the usual teas and coffees; a picture quiz was set to test those present with high scores returned all round. The usual raffle took place with a great many prizes on offer, most donated by the diners present. Thanks to Joan Reiter and her team for all their efforts.
