ST. BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: The service on Sunday 13th October will be a ”Sung Eucharist”, starting at the usual time of 9:15am, and everybody is welcome.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: Due to an outstanding planning application the meeting due for Wednesday 9th October had to be moved to another date. This will now take place on Wednesday 23rd October in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm. Villagers and members of the public are invited to attend and support the councillors working on your behalf.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The next meeting of the Neighbours group will be held in Sutton Village Hall on Wednesday 16th October at the usual time of 1:00pm. Please inform organizer Joan Reiter if you will be attending the event on 07990 702 445 or (01777) 818 492.

PARISH LUNCH: The Parish Lunch was held at the Gate inn Sutton on Tuesday 8th October at 12:00noon, where diners met for a communal lunch and enjoyed  good food and conversation. NB: a small contribution is made to the current building fund after each lunch session. Details of the lunches which occur approximately every six weeks are available from Church Warden Janet Webb on (01777) 818 682 or Lay reader Joan Herrington on (01302) 742 562 or please just call in to the venue on the date announced. You will be made very welcome!

MOBILE LIBRARY VAN: The library van visited the village on Monday 7th October 2019, stopping at the usual places.

CHURCH SERVICE: The “Harvest Festival” service was held at the local church on Sunday, 6th October with all the donated items for the harvest destined for Retford food bank. The officiant on the day was Lay Reader Joan Herrington, assisted by Worship Leader Janet Webb.

GARDENING CLUB: The gardening club met on Tuesday 1st October in Barnby Moor village hall as scheduled! Patrick Harding, well known author and broadcaster  addressed the members on the subject of “A Plant Anthology (Stories of wild and garden plants)”. A very interesting and informative talk of the usual high standard  given with a bit of  humour thrown in for good measure and enjoy by those present. A gathering of 27 people present on this occasion with many of the regulars away on holiday. The club continues to gather momentum as it goes from strength to strength, more people joining at each session.

QUIZ NIGHT: The quiz continues to take place in the Village Hall every Sunday night, £1.00 entry per person which is paid back as prize money! The bigger the crowd – the bigger the prize! New contestants always welcome. Following the quiz “Play your cards right” – Cash Prize! Can you beat the local teams? Come along and try. 8:00pm start and bar open.

REGULARS

YOUTH CLUB: The Youth Club continue to meet on a Tuesday night from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the Village Hall (except for the first Tuesday in the month). New members are always welcome.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group continue to meet at Sutton Village Hall on the second Wednesday of each month for a communal lunch. Further details about the group and its activities are available from group leader Joan Reiter on (01777) 702 137.

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The April club continue to meet every two weeks in the village and full details are available from Group Leader and organiser Carole Head on (01777) 705 077.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. Further details of the group and their activities are available from:

SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR WI: Sutton and Barnby Moor W.I. meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Sutton Village Hall at 7:15pm. Members old and new always welcome.

VILLAGE HALL BOOKINGS: Enquiries with regard to the booking of the Village Hall should be made by contacting 07092 985 831. Anyone making enquiries please note that the number is not manned on a permanent basis, but calls are re-routed to one of three points for their attention and will be dealt with as soon as possible. POSTAL SERVICES: The Post office operates in the Village Hall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays of each week.

  • Wednesdays from: 9:00am to 12:00 noon

The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.
