ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Morning Prayer” will be held at St. Bartholomew’s church this coming Sunday 4th September. The service starts at 9 30am and everyone is welcome.

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.

WOMENS INSTITUTE: A group of ladies from the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met at the Huntsman Inn Torworth on Wednesday 17th August for a communal meal. This now annual event has taken place over the past few years, bringing members together for a social evening during the month of August, when there is no scheduled meeting of the main group.

IDLE VALLEY SOCIETY: The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 6th September in Barnby Moor Village Hall at the usual time of 7:30pm.

A varied and interesting programme has been put together for members benefit and as September is the start of the new session, annual subscriptions are due on that occasion. The first speaker of the new season will be Nigel Slater and the subject will be Butterflies and Dragonflies. Vacancies exist within the group and the Chairman and committee will be on hand to welcome members old and new. Further details available from Secretary Margaret Stacey on 01777 818 478.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group will meet as usual on Friday mornings and will continue throughout the season. Further detail available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.

CHARITY STRAWBERRY TEA: The strawberry tea hosted by Mel Cookson and Retford Operatic Society proved to  be yet another successful promotion held in the village.

In aid of Retford Hospice, the event was well supported and raised a sum in the region of £400 destined for hospice funds. Thanks go to the village hall committee and everyone who helped make the day the success it turned out to be.

ZUMBA FITNESS: Zumba fever hit the village last week when the weekly run classes held at Sutton Village Hall on Tuesday evenings at 7:45pm. were full to overflowing.

Patrons were soon on the floor and engaging in energetic routines under the watchful eye of a local instructor. This very popular pastime is open to over 16s and the entry fee is £4.00. Come along and have some fun whilst getting fit and join the Zumba party.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that green bins should be put out for collection late on Monday night (5th September) or early Tuesday morning.
