Householders urged not to hire unofficial traders

Householders are being urged to be cautious of people offering to do jobs in their gardens in the wake of the snow melting.
DC Stuart Temple, of Mansfield North CID, said: “Some offenders are always looking for opportunities to commit crime, and the end to the snowy conditions could give them an excuse to offer a service which could disguise their real intention – to steal cash.”
“Be aware of rogue traders offering to tidy up your garden now that the snow has melted.
“Do not hire unofficial traders to do the work and don’t let any of them into your home.”
If you are concerned about unofficial traders in your area, call police on 101.
Two men have been charged in connection with a distraction burglary in Kirkby-in-Ashfield on Saturday 19 January.
Douglas Price, 21, of Garside Street, Worksop, and Kevin Price, 24, of Long Acre View, Sheffield, were due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 28 January).
