NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH GROUP:  NHW has reported the following “scam” which has been confirmed by Royal Mail. A card is being posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting they are unable to deliver said parcel and for you to contact them on an “0906” telephone number – when you receive an automated message you will have already been billed £315.00.  If you do receive one of these cards please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072 396 655. Please be aware of this scam and similar and be extra vigilant on the lead up to busy buying period where there is an increase in parcel deliveries.

ST BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 30th at the local church the service will be “A service with a difference” Come along and find out more. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

COFFEE MORNING—SATURDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2011

Saturday 22nd October at 10:30am until 12:30pm was the date for the yet another successful coffee morning in the Village Hall, kindly arranged by regular hosts Brian and Kathryn Seddons.

A £2.00 cover charge gave patron’s access to Coffee, Cake and an instant win Raffle Ticket. The event was well supported with many villagers and friends coming along and have a chat, to see what’s going on in the village and opportunity to book for forthcoming events, or simply indulge in coffee, cake and chat .

A collection of items for the yard sale were delivered and accepted from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, during and after the coffee morning.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH : In an incident closer to home, thieves have recently stolen a Silver Landrover Freelander from Town Street, Sutton cum Lound on Monday 17th October between the hours of 7:30am and 5:15pm. The vehicle was parked unattended outside the owners property whilst the owner was out for the day. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious activity when seen on 999 if they believe or know that a crime is being committed, or on 0300 300 99 99 where the event has occurred. Please provide as much detail as possible; descriptions of offenders and vehicle, and direction of travel, etc.

YARD SALE — SUNDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2011

Not as busy as in previous years but still raising much needed funds for the Village Hall.

Thanks to all who supported the event in any way which raised a sum in the region of £150.

THE EDWARDIAN CHOIR — FRIDAY 4TH NOVEMBER 2011

This date sees a return of the local Choir “The Edwardians” who were such a success on a previous visit. After a great many requests locally, it was decided to invite the group to perform at the Village Hall once again. With a full repertoire of popular music they will endeavour to provide entertainment to suit everyone on the night!

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The Sutton April club will meet on Friday 4th November in the Village Hall when a selection of their favourite activities will take place.

MUSIC QUIZ-10TH NOVEMBER 2011 AT SUTTON VILLAGE HALL (7:00PM). The UK Singles Chart commenced on the 15th November 1952 and as the Chart enters its sixtieth year, the Village Hall is pleased to host a musical celebration with a prize music quiz. With music stretching from Nat “King” Cole to Rihanna and Vera Lynn to Lady Gaga it’s a quiz for the whole family. There’ll also be rounds on Film, TV and just about anything else that has been going off in the last six decades.

Tickets are only £5-00 each which includes a pie and pea supper plus entry to the prize quiz. There will be a licensed bar and all profits from the event will go to the Village Hall Charity.

PARISH PLAN STEERING GROUP: The PPSG are in the early stage of planning village celebrations for the Queens Diamond Jubilee to take place over the period of 2nd – 5th June 2012.  Anyone interested in joining in with ideas and support for this event should contact Brian at parishplanchair@suttoncumlound.net or call our new Sutton Central telephone service on 07092 985 871.

PARISH COUNCIL:  The Parish Council meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month and discuss issues regarding the village. Residents are not only welcome but also actively encouraged to participate.

ZUMBA FITNESS: This new fitness craze continues to draw large numbers at Sutton Village Hall every Tuesday evening 19:45 to 20:45. Open to over 16’s and entry fee is £4.00. Come along and have some fun whilst getting fit.

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.
