Overview
What is it?
A Neighbourhood Plan is a document that works to deliver the scale and type of development that local people wish to see in their area.
Once adopted, it sits alongside the Local Authority’s Local Plan and will be used to help determine planning applications that are submitted for the area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan.
A Quick Guide to Neighbourhood Plans is available here (PDF)
Who does it?
A Steering Group made up of local residents who oversee and lead the production of the Plan.
A Steering Group is open to all members of the local community and consists of a mix of Parish Councillors and local residents.
What can it do?
A Neighbourhood Plan can be used to deliver development that the local community wish to see. It can allocate sites or list criteria that all new developments must meet, such as the design, location and type of development.
A Neighbourhood Plan can also allocate sites as protected green space and be used to protect important community facilities and environmental assets.
Neighbourhood Plan UNDER REVIEW
The Sutton cum Lound Neighbourhood Plan is currently under review by a new committee. This is to address some new policies and information to strengthen our position on the future of the village, paying attention to the new Local Plan adopted by Bassetlaw District Council.
The new committee meets at 7:00pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Village Hall. If you would like to help shape the future of our village, please contact cllr.rees@suttoncumlound-pc.gov.uk for more information.
Know Your Place Events
There are plans for two events to be held in conjunction with Bassetlaw District Council – Know Your Place. This is an opportunity for you to find out what we are doing and why, to ask questions, to provide input and to guide the end document. To tell us what your vision is for the village, where are the important features you want to keep, help identify green spaces and much more.
Please join us on Thursday 27th June 5:00pm to 8@00pm, and Saturday 29th June 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Village Hall to give your input.
Design Guidance and Codes (December 2024)
Through the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) Neighbourhood Planning Programme led by Locality, AECOM has been appointed to provide design support to the Sutton cum Lound Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group (NPSG) by preparing this Design Guidance and Codes document.
The NPSG seek to establish design guidance and codes to influence the character and design of future development across the Sutton cum Lound Neighbourhood Area (NA), an area equivalent to the parish. This includes both Sutton cum Lound village and the surrounding countryside.
