Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Monies
For every house that is constructed within the village envelope, the Parish Council receives a small amount of money that may be used within the village to bolster the infrastructure within it.
There are set rules for what this money can be used for, but these allow the levy to be used to fund a very broad range of facilities such as play areas, open spaces, parks and green spaces, cultural and sports facilities, healthcare facilities, and other community safety facilities. Whilst some of these may not be relevant to our village, this flexibility gives local areas the opportunity to choose what infrastructure they need to deliver their relevant plans.
Due to the number of housing developments that have been developed in the village over the last three years, the amount of CIL funding we have received is significant and will increase as the remaining developments are completed. We have five years in which to spend this funding.
As a member of Sutton cum Lound Community, you should have a say in what this funding should be used for, and even offer ideas on what facilities you would like to see in the village.
While we’re on the subject, if you fancy more of a hands-on say in how the CIL monies are spent, why not become a Parish Councillor? Have a look here at what the Parish Council does, and see if there are currently any vacancies.
If you have any questions on the CIL in particular, or the Parish Council in general, then please contact the Clerk to the Council for more information.
Give us your ideas
Do you have an idea that may improve the infrastructure of the village and provide better facilities?
Please share it with us. We just need a bit of information to help us choose the right project going forward. You can submit any number of ideas, so keep thinking.

We also have the Sutton Spotlight, which goes out to every house in the village on a quarterly (ish) basis. Space is sometimes limited, so try to get your entry in early.
We’re also lucky to have a village Journalist who collates news and updates for the Retford Times on a weekly basis. Get your copy in on Monday morning for the Thursday issue.
All our website updates are also sent down the village “X formerly Twitter” feed, @SuttonCumLound. So, follow us there for these and other items in and around our area.
The Parish Council has a Facebook presence for all things of a council nature. Contact the Clerk if you want anything on this feed.
