The New Year has brought lots of changes to the school, including a new teacher, Mrs McClay and several new pupils who were made very welcome by their peers.
A Christingle service was held on January 17th with the children making Christingle candles (with a little help) this made the event educational and a fun time for all involved.
Year 5 and 6 pupils have had wrestling lessons, and year 6 has also completed level two Road Safety bikability training. The football team with their new coach, Mr. Clark are going from strength to strength in their weekly football matches.
Mothers Day was celebrated both in school and at the local church, where a small group of pupils joined Mrs McClay and read out “Thoughts about our Mothers” by class 1.
Children had a fantastic chance to enhance their knowledge on rainforest animals, when meeting some smaller ones face to face, when Dean from Meet a Creature came in.
The community garden was visited by all the school to do some “Spring Planting”.
To support Sports Relief the children, Staff and some family members ran and walked a mile around the school grounds. They managed to raise the fantastic sum of £100.
Three other children completed a sponsored five mile bike ride and together raised a total of £83.50.
Well done!
Community Lunches continue, the next will be on Wednesday 9th May 2012.
The PTA arranged non-uniform days, a jumble sale, and disco’s with Mr Bennett providing music and lights.
The school now has its own web site, new and small at the moment, but if you want to see what’s on and watch it grow, go to www.suttonlound.notts.sch.uk.
Arrangements are being made for a Jubilee Garden Party on Saturday May 26th – a date for your diary – with more information to follow.
