POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1 :0pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.

SUTTON EXERCISE GROUP: (former Zumba group): This group meets on Mondays at 7:00pm at the Village Hall under the careful instruction of Kelly. There are many aspects of keep fit and the group are currently enjoying a mix of Zumba, Boxercise, Circuit Training and Floor work / stretching exercises. Kelly is happy to put together a programme to suit all needs, so pop along and join us. Entry is £5.00 (18’s and over only please).

POLICE MATTERS:  PC 3354 Alan Johnson has taken over as the new Beat Manager for Nottinghamshire Police’s Safer Neighbourhood Team covering Ranskill and Sutton.

PC Johnson has been a full time police officer for more than 11 years and served for six years as a Special Constable in Worksop before that.  Since joining Nottinghamshire Police he has served as a response officer in the Bulwell, Retford, Harworth and Worksop areas.

Married with one son, Alan is Worksop born and bred. “So I know the area well,” he said.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge, getting out and about and meeting people, and trying to make a difference to the quality of life for people in the villages I cover,” he added.

Alan joins PCSO Catherine Phillips on the Ranskill and Sutton beat.

Updates on Police alert for Sutton ward:

  • A recently installed bench on the play park behind the Village Hall in Sutton cum Lound has been vandalised. Unknown offenders have pushed over the bench which has caused damage to the fixing spikes.
  • A detached garage in Sutton Cum Lound was entered between 23:30 hours on the and 07:00 hours – damage to a scooter was caused but nothing was taken.
  • A secure vehicle was entered between 22:00 hours and 10:00 hours. Entry was gained by smashing the rear panel on the passenger side and property was stolen.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group will meet as usual on Friday mornings and will continue throughout the season. Further details available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.

COFFEE MORNING: The next village coffee morning will be held on Saturday 4th August at the usual time of 10:30 at the Village Hall. Admission is £2.00 to include coffee, cake and a raffle ticket.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that green bins should be put out for collection late on Monday night 30th July or early Tuesday morning.
