Sleep easy with electric blanket testing

Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards

Nottinghamshire older and disabled residents who enjoy the comfort of an electric blanket are being encouraged to get their blanket tested before winter at three safety check events.

Previous tests in the county found that on average six in 10 blankets are faulty. Blankets fail the test for a number of reasons, including their age, worn fabric, faulty controllers and crossed wires.

Anyone found to have a faulty electric blanket will be given the chance to exchange it for a brand new replacement or discount vouchers to buy their own. All programmers and leads must also accompany the blanket on the day of testing.

The events are taking place at the following locations for residents of the County Council only:

  • Manton, Worksop, on Monday 15 October
  • Carlton, Nottingham, on Tuesday 16 October
  • West Bridgford, on Wednesday 17 October

If you or a family member uses an electric blanket and would like to attend the event, contact Trading Standards at Nottinghamshire County Council on 01623 452 005 to make an appointment in advance. Details of the event locations will be provided at the time of booking.
