ROAD CLOSURE: Residents are reminded that Station Road from the junction of Barnby Moor through to the junction with Town street is due to be resurfaced.

This work will commencing Monday 1st October and is due for completion on Sunday 7th October at 18:30 hours. This temporary prohibition of driving is to allow Carriageway Resurfacing Works to be carried out by Nottinghamshire County Council. ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 30th September a Harvest Festival will be celebrated at the local church. Parishioners are invited to attend the function and everyone will be made welcome. Please note the earlier starting time of 9:00am. 

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week.   On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday last and a full report will follow.

VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: The next stage in the village hall refurbishment programme has now commenced, with the toilet upgrade being given priority. The former gents toilet has now been closed to allow these works to progress; during alterations males will use the disabled toilet in the passage way nearest the kitchen. This is a temporary measure and the Village Hall Committee apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst these changes take place.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The neighbours group met on Tuesday, 11th September in the Village Hall as scheduled. A few more than normal turned up on the day with a few regulars being away on holiday and illness preventing the number attending being swelled even further. Villagers took the opportunity to go along and catch up on all the latest news and views from in and around the village whilst socialising over afternoon tea.

The usual raffle took place and official notices given out. Members of the Safer Neighbourhoods Local Beat Team were in attendance to advise residents of any concerns they may have.

COFFEE MORNING: On Saturday 29th September Kathryn and Brian Seddons invite you to join them for morning coffee on in the Village Hall from 10:30am – 12:30pm.

An entrance fee of only £2.00 will entitle visitors to coffee/tea biscuits or cake and a instant raffle ticket and the chance to meet friends old and new in a relaxed atmosphere.

KELLY J FITNESS: The Fitness for All programme continues to take place on Monday evenings in the Village Hall. This Monday’s class was well attended with new member’s joining the group with a view to regular exercise and keeping fit. A fully qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor is on hand to put members through their paces. More classes next Monday night.

Please take your entries to St Bartholomew’s Church between 10:00am and 11:30am.

Each entry should be accompanied by an envelope with the entry category on the outside and your NAME & ADDRESS inside – Should you win you will then be identified when the show opens to the public at 1:00pm.

Each adult entry costs 20p and each child entry 5p.

The winners will be announced at 2:30pm, as will the winners of the raffle.

Please collect your entry after the prize giving. Entries not collected will be distributed appropriately.

Entry to the show is from 1:00 to 2:30pm – the charge is £1 which secures a raffle ticket.

If this show is a success we will hold another one next year – the provisional date is 31 August 2013. 

VILLAGE VENTURES: As part of the Village Ventures programme The Virginia Monologues will be performed at Sutton Village Hall on Friday 12th October 2012. The story goes that when an agony aunt reaches 60, she can lie like a trooper, jump off a bridge or take to the stage, making the sixties the best and funniest times of your life. SUTTON ART GROUP: The group will meet as usual on Friday mornings and will continue throughout the season. Further details available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.

B.A.R.K.: Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels held its one day sale in the Village Hall on Sunday 23rd September as scheduled and a few regular supporters of the group plus villagers made the effort to support the event. Proceeds from the sale, thought to be in the region of £100 will go to the kennels.

The organisers would like to thank everybody involved for their support.
