Cowboy builders
Information sent on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police
Police are warning residents to be aware of ‘cowboy builders’ operating in the Worksop area following the discovery of two men working on a property of an elderly female without the knowledge of the family.
The males left after a concerned local authority employee alerted the Police to their presence.
It is not unusual for rogue traders to carry out door knocks and leaflet drops. Such persons will try and point out non-essential work, such as roofing, painting or building then quote a vastly inflated price or carry out the work and demand a much higher price than originally quoted.
If you want any building work carried out please make sure you use a registered tradesman. You can always visit the Trading Standards Website which can give you registered builders/gardeners details.
If you are concerned by the presence of such individuals or there are suspicious vehicles in your neighbourhood then please phone Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or you can call anonymously on the Crimestoppers number of 0800 555 111.
