
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 23rd December a Carol Service will take place at St. Bartholomew’s at 9:30am.
“The Crib Service” will take place on Christmas Eve (24th December) at 6:00pm.
Later on the same day at 11:30pm Parishioners should gather at the local church for Christmas Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day a “Sung Eucharist” will take place at the earlier starting time of 9:00am.
A warm welcome awaits visitors at any or all of the listed services.
POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays: 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car Insurance, Investments and Savings.
CHRISTMAS MARKET: With the final invoices tendered the Village Hall Committee are pleased to announce that the event has realised the fantastic sum of £1,200 which is destined for Village Hall funds. Thanks must go to all sponsors and contributors and the many who helped make the event a success.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The village Neighbourhood Watch Committee ran a successful event in the Village Hall on Saturday 24th November in conjunction with the regular coffee mornings, to raise awareness of the use of shed/garage alarms. In total 17 alarms were sold on the day and a further 6 orders have now been met. Anyone else who would like to learn about the use of these Police recommended alarms, and possibly buy one, should contact any member of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee. Keep your property safe.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Neighbours group met on Tuesday 11th December in the Village Hall as scheduled and members started the afternoon off with a glass of Christmas cheer before being invited to partake of an excellent buffet set before them.
After satisfying hunger pangs all round it was time to move on to step two in the programme.
Once again local man Dick Bolton was on hand to present a marvellous selection of films from his Yesteryears Cinema collection, which was gratefully appreciated by all present.
After part one was over, a short break ensued for teas and coffees when the customary raffle was drawn.
Then there was a raffle with a difference, with one happy lady taking home a luxury Xmas hamper.
In the second half of the cinema programme, a well known western topped the bill, patrons were highly delighted with this matinee performance thanks to the efforts of our cinematographer for reviving nostalgia in the village for those in attendance.
A very enjoyable afternoon, thanks to the efforts of the organisers of the event and for their input into a lot of people’s social calendar as the festive season continues. Well done.!!
SUTTON-CUM LOUND C of E SCHOOL: Villagers are welcome to join the children and their families at the end of term service, to be held in St. Bartholomew’s Church on Thursday 20th December at 2:00pm.
Thank you to villagers who put their unwanted clothing in the clothes bank which is situated in the school grounds, the most recent collection raised £97 for school funds.

KELLY J FITNESS: The former Zumba or Fitness for All organisers are taking a short break over the Christmas period. Classes will commence again in the New Year (7th January) and full details will be available then.
BURNS SUPPER: Application forms for places have been circulated in the village recently for the ever popular Burns Supper. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday 19th January in the Village Hall. Interested parties should complete the attached slip and return it with full payment as detailed on the form. Places will be allocated on a “First to pay receives” basis.
As this very popular event is usually a sell-out, supporters are urged to complete and return the forms as soon as possible. Only sixty places are available and 37 have already gone.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met in Sutton Village Hall on Wednesday 19th December, it was ”Party Night” and a full report will follow.
VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: Visitors to the hall recently have noticed and remarked favourably on the latest improvements to the building. This is due to the continued work and efforts of the Village Hall Committee in conjunction with B W Property services.
Additional wall heaters will be installed above the French windows in the near future, (made possible by a generous donation from Sutton Art Group). The new mirrors compliment the ladies toilets, leaving any outstanding works to be completed with the work revolving around hall bookings and holidays.
The hall committee would like to thank everybody for their support over the last year, and uses groups for their patience and understanding whilst refurbishment works take place.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet as usual on Friday mornings in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council held its monthly meeting on Wednesday evening 12th December in the Village Hall with Councillor Angela Close presiding.
Various items came under discussion during the evening including:
- New code of conduct – Safer Neighbourhood and Neighbourhood watch issues and Financial Matters
- PCSO Dave Airey gave an updated report to council on the latest crime figures affecting the village and the beat area as a whole.
- Villagers are asked to remain vigilant during the darker months and report anything suspicion.
- Residents were represented at County and District level with both councillors present.
The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 9th January 2013.
