Charity Auction

On Saturday 9th February Andy Barney, Landlord of The Gate Inn, is holding a charity auction night to raise much needed funds for the Lincs / Notts air ambulance. Andy has been holding this bi-annual event for several years and hopes to raise around £500 for the air ambulance service which relies entirely on donations.

The pub accepts donated goods such as books, clothes, ornaments, games, toys, electrical items and bric-a-brac. Lots will be available to view from 1:00pm on Saturday before the auction itself takes place at 8:00pm.

If anyone has anything that is in good clean serviceable condition and would like to donate it to this worthy cause then please drop it into The Gate Inn at any time before or on Saturday 9th February.

Update

An event arranged at the local hostelry with a view to raising a sum of around £500 for the Notts / Lincs Air Ambulance Service went far beyond the target figure set. A packed house was in a more than generous mood as Landlord Andy Barney got the event under way on Saturday night (9th February) at 8:00pm.

Goods for the planned auction had been arriving over the previous days and all  were due to go under the hammer. Local man Ken Young was the auctioneer for the evening and was at the rostrum to see fair play and accept the bids coming in. A light-hearted session then ensued, as bidders and customers exchanged banter as the evening wore on. A serious outcome at the end of the night as figures revealed that a magnificent sum of £1400 had indeed been raised by the Gates’ customers, visitors and friends from the items auctioned.

This amount will be on its way to the aforementioned Air Ambulance Service which relies entirely on donations to survive.

Mine Host at the Gate Inn has held these events bi-annually for a number of years and was still over-whelmed by the generosity of customers and friends who made the evening the success it turned out to be.

Thanks to all concerned.
