HOLD UP ON STATION ROAD.: Commuters were held up for a period on Station Road in the village on Monday morning due to a malfunction with the barriers on the railway crossing. Audible sirens and flashing lights were operating but the barriers failed to come down across the road. Despite the danger of the situation some motorists decided to take the risk and cross the track.

A Station road resident contacted Rail Track and reported the situation, but they were already aware of it and had dispatched a response repair team who arrived within ten minutes of the call. Rail staff attended and rectified the problem thought to be due to adverse weather conditions and were on site for approximately 30 minutes. Trains were running at restricted speed for most of the day.

VILLAGE VENTURES: When the Angus and Ross Theatre company appeared at the Village Hall on Saturday 9th March it was to a smaller than usual audience. One of the reasons being a London theatre trip which was scheduled to run on the same night and which many local residents had pre-booked.

Despite the drop in numbers those present were entertained by the two man cast assisted by a massive array of stage props used to maximum effect and were most appreciative of the evenings presentation. After a great performance, members of the audience stayed behind in order to talk to the cast.

The next presentation in the Village Ventures series is on Sunday 21st April when the Badapple Theatre Company perform “Lights out Land Girls”. Join the Land Army Girls for another set of comic tales from the Home Front.
