NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday 25th March at 27 Portland Place Sutton at the usual time of 2:30pm.

Various topics came under discussion during the afternoon and an updated crime report was given by the PCSO Dave Airey indicating that although reported crime across the beat area had seen an increase there was also an increased detection rates. Crime in the village was at a lower level than surrounding areas but one crime is one too many.

The PCSO reiterated the message for villagers to remain vigilant reporting anything suspicious on 101 (the Police number for non-emergency calls) after all, who knows the village best, the villagers themselves of course!

At the coffee morning arranged for Saturday 6th April in the Village Hall it is hoped to include a property marking demonstration and show which products are available to residents.

The groups AGM which is scheduled for Tuesday 21st May in the Village Hall was discussed again and confirmation of the attendance of the areas Police Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping was given.

The PCSO has suggested holding a crime Prevention session in the Village Hall later in the year, probably after the AGM, with the month of June looking most favourable.

The April meeting of the group will take place on Tuesday 30th April at the usual time of 2:30pm.

ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH:  A service of “Morning Prayer” will take place at the local church on Sunday 7th April. The service commences at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week.  On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with : Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

VILLAGE HALL UPDATE: A new exterior door has been fitted in the servery area and work has commenced to improve the serving hatch area with other alterations being carried out at opportune moments. A progress report will be made available as each stage is completed.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE:  The next meeting of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI Will take place on Wednesday 17th April 2013..

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. Further details of the group and their activities are available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137 or Margaret Beare on 01777 704 836.

VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The hall committee met on Wednesday 27th March as scheduled and the following items came under discussion; Finances, Business Planning. Fundraising, and Maintenance.

In the absence of the regular Chair Person (due to illness), Sharon Dyson chaired the meeting.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: Tuesday 9th April is the day you can meet your neighbours in the Village Hall at the usual starting time of 2:00pm.

The usual team will be on hand to welcome neighbours and friends as they join together to enjoy afternoon tea and catch up on all the latest news and views from in and around the village.

KELLY J FITNESS: The local group continue to meet on Monday nights at 7:00pm in the Village Hall and tends to attract new members at each session.

The fully qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer is on hand to put members through their paces with exercises tailored to suit individual needs.

This is a chance to get your body in shape for summer, which is not too far away.
