Dates announced for the 2013 Robin Hood Festival

Prepare for medieval mayhem and merriment! The annual Robin Hood Festival for 2013 will take place between Monday, August 5 and Sunday, August 11.
The event is a major celebration about the famous Nottinghamshire outlaw and takes place in his legendary home of Sherwood Forest.
Managed by Nottinghamshire County Council, the festival is now in its 29th year and will once again have an action packed programme of activities every day to interest the whole family.
And the free family festival, held at Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre, near the historic village of Edwinstowe, will once again be one of the highlights in the county’s leisure calendar this summer – whatever the weather!
During the festival, Robin Hood’s regularly scuffles with his old adversary The Sheriff of Nottingham, while archery, falconry and jousting (the latter two on selected days) will provide visiting crowds with a taste of medieval entertainment and skill.
The festival is further brought to life with entertainment from street performers depicting what life was like in medieval times. These will include musicians, jesters, jugglers and market traders with a whole host of stalls, re-enactments, performances and other activities to entertain young and old alike.
Last year Robin of Sherwood took to Twitter to announce plans for the festival for the first time and this year social media will again feature as part of the exciting build-up to the week.
