GARDENING CLUB: Sutton Gardening Club Flower and produce Show will take place on Saturday 31st August 2013 at St Bartholomew’s Church.

This fun show will give villagers and friends the opportunity to compete against each other with their home grown produce. It is open to all villagers and others with connections to the village.

ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH:   The service at the local church on Sunday 18th August 2013 will be a “Family Service”. Please come along and bring the family!  The service starts at the usual time of 9:30am and everyone is welcome.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local Neighbourhood Watch Association held its monthly meeting on Tuesday 30th July at the usual time of 2:30pm.

The new PCSO for the area 4778 Aaron Stocks was in attendance along with two new committee members April Lavin and Chris Bailey from the village.

The group is now operating with a full committee thanks to the two volunteers coming forward and offering their services.

Various items came up for discussion during the afternoon including: Moving to electronic communication, Membership update – including recruitment of new members.

Police report  – PCSO Aaron Stocks gave an updated crime report for the beat area for June 2013.

Under the heading Any Other Business it was reiterated of the importance of reporting suspicious vehicles in the area on the 101 number, such as white vans and pick-ups including those that are touting for scrap metal. The Police can then check if the drivers have the appropriate Waste Carriers Certificate required to carry out that line of business.

A report had been received of dead sheep being seen in a field on Sutton Lane.

The PCSO investigated the incident and forwarded his findings to the RSPCA who attended immediately. Various agencies are now dealing with the matter.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members are reminded that there is no meeting of the group in August.

SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. A few vacancies exist within the group at this time and further details of the group and their activities are available from Joan Reiter on 01777 702 137.

PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council normally meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Village Hall. There is a public participation period and all residents are welcome to attend. VILLAGE HALL BOOKINGS:  Enquiries with regard to the booking of the Village Hall should be made by contacting 07092 985 831. POSTAL SERVICES: The Post Office in the Village Hall will be available as usual on two occasions each week. On Mondays 9:30am – 1:30pm and on Thursdays 9:00am – 1:00pm. The local office can supply residents with: Pensions, Foreign Currency, Travel Insurance, Car insurance, investments and Savings.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that Blue bins should be put out for collection late on Monday night 19th August or early Tuesday morning.
