LIFE IN COLOUR: The exhibition of original paintings by Local artist Graham Williams is still attracting a great deal of attention at the Bassetlaw Museum in Grove Street Retford. Titled “Life in Colour” the exhibit contained a great variety of subjects from everyday life and even a few well-known pop stars managed to get their faces on canvas. The event is scheduled to carry on until mid January and is well worth a visit.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A Service of Remembrance will take place on Sunday 10th November at the local church. This will include the Act of Remembrance and a two minute silence will be held at 11:00am.
The service starts at the later time of 10:00am and everyone is welcome.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH:
The local committee met as scheduled on Tuesday 29th October 2013 at the usual time of 2:30pm. In the absence of the Chairman Harry Hopkins, Secretary David Mowthorpe took the chair.
Items arising from this meeting were as follows:
- It was agreed to arrange a meeting to discuss updating the allocation of properties to coordinators. This will take place on Monday 18th November 2013 at the Gate Inn at 7:30pm and all coordinators are requested to attend.
- A publicity poster produce by April Lavin was reviewed by the committee who agreed its suitability subject to minor changes.
- As no Police representation was available on the day, acting chairman David Mowthorpe gave the members an updated report gained from the Police website.
- Concern was voiced by members regarding a Police presence in the village on Friday 18th October around 6:00pm. Whilst the presence was welcomed by most, some villagers have been approaching members seeking further information about the situation which appears to have caused concerns and anxiety especially amongst the more elderly residents. The secretary would take the matter up with our local PCSO Aaron Stocks.
SUTTON ART GROUP: The Sutton Art Group Annual Exhibition is to be held in the Village Hall on Saturday 23rd November. Everyone is welcome between 11:00am and 4:00pm on the day. Entry is free and refreshments will be available. Additional interest will be provided by the school and pre-school who will also be exhibiting. Most paintings will be for sale on the day. This is your chance to buy original local art at affordable prices. The group meets on Friday mornings at the Village Hall between 10:00am and 12:00 noon, and continues throughout the season. The group numbers more than 20 members, with a resident art teacher.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that blue bins should be put out for collection late on Monday night 11th November or early Tuesday morning.
