NETWORK RAIL: Level Crossing Improvement Works –ECM1137 31 – 144.04 Grove Road, Botany Bay, Torworth, Ranskill, Barnby Moor and Sutton.
Network Rail need to undertake essential improvement works at the above venues. These works will be undertaken on Saturday 11th January 2014 from 23:45 until Sunday 12th January 2014 at 08:25. This work will involve essential Level Crossing maintenance, including road markings and faults. The equipment used means some disturbance is unavoidable, but every effort will be made to keep any noise to a minimum level. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: Monica Hockenhull held a very successful coffee morning on Saturday 14th December at her home on Sutton Lane.
A well attended event with the usual raffle and sale of preserves adding to much needed income for church funds. Thanks to all who assisted in any way.
BURNS SUPPER: Details of this popular annual event were released during the festive season and despite the time of year and all the happenings about to take place competition for places at the event were fierce. Reservations with deposits were taken from 9am on Monday 16th December and by Friday 20th all sixty places were bought and paid for. A reserve list, in case of cancellations is now in operation.
SUTTON GARDEN CLUB: The club met on Tuesday 7th January 2014 at 7:15pm at The Gate Inn and a full report will follow.
PET ALERT: With reports of two dogs being stolen in the immediate area and an attempted theft of another in the village, foiled only by the owners vigilance, pet owners are being urged to be even more vigilant especially if pets are off the lead or unattended even for short periods, even in your own garden.
Free dog micro chipping available: The Dogs Trust is micro chipping dogs for free at an event in Nottingham in partnership with Nottingham City Council. If a local session is arranged details will be published.
Following a previous report, yes a local session for free micro-chipping has been arranged by Dogs Trust and is offered in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council. The event will take place on Friday 10th January 2014 from 11:00am to 3:00pm in the Buttermarket Retford Town Hall, DN22 6DB.
Please note the law is changing! As from 6th April 2016 you must have your dog micro-chipped. Don’t miss this opportunity!
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local association have been informed of the following incident: A valuable gents’ pedal cycle has been stolen from a property on Portland place in the village. The machine, recently purchased, is described as a” Meccarrera Fury” with a blue/black frame and a white seat. It was taken late on Sunday night (5th January) or early Monday morning (6th January) after a garage door was forced to gain access to the property and the item removed. Police have called to the scene and investigations continue.
SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR W.I.: When the WI ladies meet on Wednesday 15th January at 7:15pm in Sutton Village Hall, not only will it be the first meeting in 2014 but it will be Member’s Night. This is the opportunity for the members to catch up on all the happenings that took place over the festive season, whilst socializing with their peers. A White Elephant stall will operate on the night.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Meet the Neighbours Team will be back on Tuesday 14th January in the Village Hall at the usual time of 2:00pm and invite you to join them. Shake off the winter blues make the effort to join in the proceedings as we start off the New Year on a high. Good tea/coffee good biscuits and good company. Please come along and bring a friend, you may even enjoy it.

WHEELIE BINS: Residents are reminded that the Christmas and New Year bin collection timetable is still in operation. Green bins should be put out for collection late on Tuesday night (14th) or early Wednesday morning.
