NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The committee of the local association met as arranged on Wednesday 30th April in the village. During the session various items came under discussion:

  • Membership details– The Secretary reported that progress had been slow in acquiring email addresses of members but there had been an increase of 4 to give a total of 70 members who receive their alerts by email. In May there is to be a big push in securing email addresses.
  • Members without email facilities will continue to receive their messages in the usual way.
  • Crime prevention eventThe Secretary has invited the Police Pre Crime Prevention Team to address a meeting to talk about the range of products the Team have available for sale – the items to be displayed. This will hopefully take place in June. Local PCSO Aaron Stocks agreed to follow up with Nottinghamshire police Pre Crime Prevention team following the Secretary’s invitation
  • Speeding in the Village. The police have now completed a Risk Assessment of the village to enable a village Speedwatch to be initiated. The Committee welcomed this news and look forward to seeing Speedwatch in action in the near future.

A G M the local Neighbourhood Watch Association will hold its AGM on Thursday 15th May 2014, and the venue is the same as last year – Sutton Village Hall.

The Hall will be open from 7:00pm and the meeting will start at 7:30pm. The Area Coordinator Harry Hopkins and his team will be pleased to welcome members and non-members to the event. Light refreshments will be provided.

As the local association approaches the 17th Anniversary of its existence it relies increasingly on the support and input from villagers themselves and in general the help that makes it the success it has become. It is hoped that members of the local community will come along to this event and show support once again for the village and the local team who in conjunction with other agencies help make Sutton a safe place to live.

Our guest speakers this year are the Community Safety Coordinator Gerald Connor and Police Inspector Neil Bellamy.

As in previous years, members of the Committee will stand down and those willing to serve for a further twelve months will offer themselves for re-election by public vote.

Circumstances permitting, invited guests from various agencies will be in attendance offering support and advice where needed. This is your chance to come along and find out how the local team operates, ask questions, and have your say on Neighbourhood Watch matters in general. Neighbourhood Watch, working for you in Sutton cum Lound, invite you to come and join us.

As a local resident you are already effectively part of the team and your support is greatly appreciated, and it will continue to help maintain the low level of crime in the village – your village.
