ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: “Songs of Praise” will take place at the local church on Sunday 28th September. The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
SUTTON LEVEL CROSSING: Due to ongoing maintenance works the crossing on Station Road will be closed to all traffic from 11:00pm on Saturday evening 4th October and will remain closed until 6:00pm on Sunday 5th October.
YE OLDE BELL HOTEL: Village residents and friends are invited to attend the Macmillan Coffee Morning, as part of the World’s Largest Coffee Morning, at Ye Olde Bell Hotel on THURSDAY 25 SEPTEMBER from 11:00am this week or next, as it’s a lovely opportunity for the local villagers to join us for a coffee. Many locals attended last year and were very happy with the event whilst supporting a worthwhile cause.
QUIZ NIGHT: A quiz night will take place in the Village Hall on Friday 17th October starting at 7:30pm. The event is a ticket only event and the entry price is £7.50 to include a pie and pea Supper. A cash prize will be on offer on the night and a licensed bar will operate. The usual raffle will be held.
A fun filled evening, come along and pit your wits against the locals.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: A group of 23 people made the effort to attend the first meeting of the new session. Joan Reiter and her team were on hand to meet and greet patrons old and new to the event where they could relax in convivial company whilst catching up on all the news from in and around the village. Tea coffee and a large selection of cakes were on offer during the afternoon and to finish off a large trifle was on the table to tempt those present.

A very enjoyable afternoon enjoyed by most, and looking forward to the next one.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The committee met on Wednesday 23rd evening and a report will follow.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met on Wednesday 17th September Fiona Pagdin was in the chair in the absence of President Jackie Payne.
The speaker for the evening was local author Stephen Booth who gave a detailed account of his life as a top crime writer. A very interesting evening, enjoyed by all, with an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of one of Stephen’s books.
On completion of the talk member Monica Hockenhull gave the customary vote of thanks.
