Network Rail Crossing Closure Plan - June 2014

Network Rail are currently investigating the possibility of closing a number of level crossing on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) in our area. The first stage of this process was a feasibility / consultation process which has now ended. Phase 2, which is a consultation on the proposed changes, is now in progress and due to run until 12th January 2015 … ignore the website date of 31st January 2015, this is incorrect. Network Rail have released various documents that describe the process, the crossings under consideration and a rough timetable over the next 4 years.

The crossings in our immediate area are:

  • Scrooby
  • School Lane
  • Ranskill
  • Thompsons (non-public)
  • Torworth
  • Sutton
  • Botany Bay

However, there are also number of possibilities towards Retford:

  • Grove Road
  • Eaton Lane
  • Gamston Lane

So residents not only need to consider how the proposals may affect their village life (for example increased traffic and congestion on certain roads) but also how they may affect their broader comings and goings (for example how they get to work).
