ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church, on Sunday 11th January, “Holy Communion” will be held. The service starts at 9:30pm and everyone is welcome.
GUN SHOTS: On the last two Sundays there has been a lot of bangs, sounding like gun fire between 6-7pm. It is thought that it is gunshots, and surely this should not be occurring in the dark. It appears to be in the vicinity of North Road bridge to Barnby Moor area, although it is hard to pinpoint. It has also been heard from Station Road to Portland Place and has “unsettled” some horses and dogs in the area. The incident has been reported to the Parish Council and the local Police. PCSO Aaron Stocks has been looking into the situation and reports that various legal organised shoots have taken place over the festive season and any further incidents should be reported through the normal channels. Police contact can be made on the non-emergency number 101 allowing further enquiries to take place.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The next Meet the Neighbours will be held in The Gate Inn on 13th January at 1:00 pm. We shall enjoy a meat pie, chips and peas meal at a cost of £5.00, to be paid on the day with tea and coffee afterwards. There will be the usual raffle, book and puzzle exchange and, of course, lots of friendly chat.
If you would like a lift, this can be arranged.
Anyone wishing to attend please let Joan Reiter know at least a week beforehand on (01777 702 137) or joan.reiter@tiscali.co.uk

QUIZ NIGHT: A bigger turn out than ever was present at the Gate Inn on Sunday night for the ever popular quiz night. Teams were soon doing battle as they challenged for the much sought after prize on the night.
This week’s questions were selected and presented by regular local quizzer Brian Seddons with a very mixed bag being attempted by the teams. Again a very close fought competition with the team led by the Sethi’s being declared winners at the final whistle. A quiz supper was presented at the interval courtesy of the Gate Inn and quiz teams socialised for an hour after the results were declared.
Another quiz night next Sunday starting at 8:00pm.
