ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 25th January, “Songs of Praise” will take place. The service starts at 9:30pm and everyone is welcome.
BURNS SUPPER: The Annual Burns Supper scheduled for Saturday 24th January was a complete sell out soon after application forms were circulated in the village.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The Village Hall committee will hold their first meeting of the year on Thursday 29th January in the hall at the usual time of 7:30pm.
QUIZ NIGHT: An increase in numbers this week when the teams met to do battle in the weekly quiz held at the Gate Inn. Regular question master John Jones was back in the chair after being laid low the previous week with the flu’ bug doing the rounds. The questions appeared to be meaner and meaner, some thinking this could be a side-effect of the ailment suffered by the incumbent.
A hard fought quiz, with some teams thinking they were in the lead at various stages in the event. After a quiz supper courtesy of the local hostelry, more questions to answer, just as difficult as in the first half, with everybody trying that bit harder. With all the answer sheets collected in, the question master declared the winning team as the “Wilson Family” from the village. They were presented with their winnings by mine host Les May, and received a round of applause from the other teams present.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor W I meet on Wednesday 21st January at the usual time of 7:15pm it will be the groups’ “Members Night”. Visitors and new members always welcome.
PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 14th January 2015 in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7 00pm.
An extraordinary parish council meeting was held on Thursday 22nd January in the Village Hall at 7:00pm. The object of the meeting was for the Parish Council to discuss the possible development of a Neighbourhood Plan.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Meet the Neighbours group held their first meeting of the New Year in The Gate Inn on Tuesday 13th January at 1:00pm.
