
GATE INN; As well as being head chef at the local hostelry Dean Slater and his partner Jane have now become “Mine Hosts” at the recently refurbished Gate Inn.
Dean has many years experience as a chef at various hotels including working north of the border in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the borders area of Scotland and has had spells over the years in the Cotswold’s as well as working abroad.
Various events are planned in the future starting with a Valentines Dinner menu from Thursday 12th February until Saturday 14th February 2015.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: A “Family Service” will take place on Sunday 15th February at the local church. Please come along and bring the family.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The Village Hall committee have decided to revert to their scheduled meeting date on Wednesday 25th February 2015 at the usual time of 7:30pm in the Village Hall.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The W I ladies met on Wednesday evening 12th February in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. A games night was on the cards in the form of “A BEETLE DRIVE and a full report will follow.
PARISH COUNCIL: The Council met on Wednesday evening, 11th February, as scheduled and a report will follow.
QUIZ NIGHT: One or two new faces when the weekly quiz took place at the Gate Inn on Sunday night. Same Question Master as last week, John Jones, but different questions, and just as difficult to answer. Despite this handicap, teams were in good form on the night, with high scores all around the room.
This continued in the second half, after contestants had eaten their fill of the quiz supper courtesy of the resident chef Dean Slater. The event culminated in a tie-break situation with two teams on 50 points, the team known as “The man is back” being declared as outright winners after the usual scrutiny checks. Congratulations all!
