
COUNCIL ELECTIONS: Many residents were pleased to hear that District Councillor Tracey Taylor has retained her seat in the recent council elections held last week.
The Councillor is already back at work, declaring business as usual!
SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: When the Annual General Meeting of the gardening club took place on Tuesday 5 May 2015 at 7:15pm in the Village Hall, 27 people were present. On this occasion a new committee was formed and consists of:
- Chairman: Pablo Stott
- Treasurer: Jill Kenny
- a programme secretary and a committee of six others.
During the evening the annual report was given, illustrated by 60 photographs taken over the past three years. A very interesting evening with a bit of home grown humour thrown in for good measure.
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: On Sunday 17th of May “A Family Service” will take place; please come along and bring the family!
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The monthly meeting of the local WI will take place on Wednesday 20th May in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm.
This will be the “Resolutions” meeting and a plant stall will operate during the evening. Members old and new always welcome!
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: The local Neighbourhood Watch Association met on Wednesday 29th April at the usual time of 2:30pm and the following items came under discussion:
- Neighbourhood Watch Signs – the chair was unable to progress the matter at this time.
- PCSO’s – concerns were raised and discussion took place over the intention to reduce the numbers of PCSO’s in Notts by 70 posts due to budget cuts. The committee felt a greater uniform presence was required and cuts would be detrimental to the policing the rural areas. This was not in line with the Police Commissioners ideas when he visited the group last year.
- The local associations AGM will take place on Tuesday 19th May in the Village Hall at 7:30pm. Members and non-members are welcome. Light refreshments on the night.
QUIZ NIGHT: Another busy night at the Gate Inn on Sunday evening when various teams once again competed for the much sought after prize on offer.
After a hard fought battle, which went to the wire and was finally decide by a tie-breaker, the winning team was declared as the Station Road Stooges.
In the absence of regular question master John Jones, local man Nigel Johnson took the chair for the evening, with the same rules applied and no quarter given.
Another quiz on Sunday at the usual starting time of 8:00pm.
SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and will continue throughout the season. Further details of the group and their activities are available from either:
