‘Be Prepared to be Amazed’ at spectacular Charity Fun Day for all the family this Sunday!
On Sunday 28 June, 11:00am to 4:00pm, Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Restaurant will play host to a spectacular charity fun day for all the family in support of Age UK Rotherham in the charity’s 30th Anniversary Year. The day is expected to attract around 400 visitors who will be treated to a host of traditional games, activities and attractions, all in aid of Age UK Rotherham.
“The whole aim of the day is to give families a wonderful fun day out and raise money for a really worthwhile cause,” said Kate Firth, General Manager of Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Restaurant. “We have been working really hard to make sure that there is something for everyone to enjoy – the scale of it all is staggering really, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger as more and more attractions are added!”
The addition of a very special celebrity Grandad to the lineup has definitely upped the scale further. Len Poulson, grandfather of One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, will be opening the day and he has really embraced the idea behind it:
“I think it’s brilliant,” said Len, “families are so important and putting on a day like this is a great idea. I’m really looking forward to it and I hope that we are able to give Age UK plenty of support too, they are an excellent cause worthy of our support.”
Proceeds from the day will be donated to Age UK Rotherham, Kate explains why: “Age UK Rotherham are celebrating their 30th Anniversary year this year, they do some fantastic work tackling the tragic problem of loneliness amongst older people. As this event is all about celebrating families we decided to support a cause that helps people who sadly may be without theirs.”
Lesley Dabell, Chief Executive of Age UK Rotherham is also very much looking forward to the event, “this will be a wonderful day in support of our work and also an opportunity for different generations to come together to have fun! What a way to help celebrate our 30th Year!”
Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Restaurant has a reputation for not doing things by halves and this event is no exception. “’Be Prepared to be Amazed’ has become the strapline for the event,” explained Kate, “there is so much entertainment planned I don’t think people will believe it! There will be a classic car rally, musical acts, tug-of-war, a bake-off competition, traditional games and races, a silent auction with some unbelievable prizes plus two very large, very special ‘top secret attractions’ that will be here as part of our owner’s daughter’s wedding the day before.”
Visitors to the day will also have the chance to enjoy a BBQ, make their own pizzas and enjoy a drink in Ye Olde Bell’s beautiful gardens, which will be specially decorated for the day. Afternoon tea will be served from 2:30pm to coincide with the finale of the Bake-Off competition.
“All proceeds for the day will be donated to Age UK Rotherham so that they can continue with the fabulous work that they do helping older people to overcome the tragic problem of loneliness,” added Kate.
“We hope that as many people as possible are able to come along and enjoy the day and take away some fabulous memories,” she concluded.
Entry to the fun day at Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Restaurant in Barnby Moor will be free of charge although guests will have the opportunity to make a donation to the charity if they so wish.
