ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 8th November “A Remembrance Service” will be held.

The service starts at the later time of 10:15am and everyone is welcome.

WANTED!: Do you have any unwanted cuddly toys that require a good home? Then the Village Hall committee are waiting to hear from you!

In fact anything cuddly will be considered as we plan our theme for the Christmas Market taking place on Saturday 28th November. Ring (01777) 705 060 for collection.

NETWORK RAIL: Notice has been given by Network Rail with regards to night workings taking place on the main East Coast line at the Sutton / Barnby Moor level-crossing on Station Road in the village.

Due to the replacement of railway lines which have now reach the end of their working life it is necessary to close the crossing to through traffic on the following dates:

  • Saturday 31st October from 23:45hrs to 08:25 on Sunday 1stNovember
  • Monday 2nd November from 00:35hrs to 05:05hrs on Monday 2nd November
  • Monday 2nd November from 23:35hrs to 05:05hrs on Tuesday 3rd November
  • Other week-end workings to be advised accordingly!

Network Rail apologise in advance for any inconveniences these essential works may cause.

GARDENING CLUB: The next meeting is on 3rd November when Patrick Harding will address and inform the group on the ‘Medicinal Properties of Plants’. It’s one not to be missed.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The next meeting of the group is on Tuesday 10th November at the Gate Inn at the usual time of 1:00pm. Please contact Joan Reiter on (01777) 702 137 if you wish to attend.

PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday 11th November in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm.  Council chairman Ron Beare invites Parishioners to join him and his fellow councillors on the night.

YARD SALE & CAR BOOT: The Yard and car boot sale held on Sunday 25th October raised the sum of £137.00 which is destined for Village Hall funds. Thanks to all who assisted in any way.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN: The second of the Neighbourhood Plan meetings was held on Thursday 29th October between 5:00pm and 7:00pm.and a good number of local residents attended. Members of the Neighbourhood Planning Team were in attendance to advise and bring visitors up to date with the latest developments and the current stage reached.

SUTTON CUM LOUND WELCOME PACK: The Parish Council are producing a village Welcome Pack with a view to issuing it to all village residents and thereafter to new arrivals. The target date for the first edition is 1 January 2016.

The design is based on a wallet with inserts. The main insert will be ‘An Introduction to Sutton cum Lound’ and others have been invited (mid October deadline) from the School, church, pub, shop, Village Hall, annual report from the Chairman of the Parish Council, and all clubs/regular activities in the village such as the April club, Art Group, Burns Night, Flower and Garden Show, Gardening Club, Meet the Neighbours, Neighbourhood Watch, Village Fayre, Coffee & Cakes, and WI.

SUTTON APRIL CLUB: The April club continue to meet every two weeks in the village and full details are available from Group Leader and organiser Carole Head on (01777) 705 077.
