ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 24th January, “Songs of Praise” will take place.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
NEW PCSO: With the loss of PCSO Aaron Stocks from the Ranskill and Sutton ward at the end of 2015, the area will now be covered by PCSO Claire Walker who is an established PCSO and has previously worked the rural communities both in the Tuxford area and Harworth. PCSO Walker works to the current beat manager PC Fellows.

For matters that require an urgent response 999 should be used, for example where offenders are actively at a crime scene or are believed to be in the area.
Where a call is required to record a crime that has occurred at some time in the past, 101 which is the National Police number for Police should be used and an incident created for audit purposes.
Both PC Fellows and PCSO walker work shifts, so please bear this in mind when making calls to them.
Please make yourself known to PCSO Walker when you see her in the village, stop and say hello and make her feel welcome.
SUTTON ART GROUP: The group meet every Friday morning in the Village Hall and from time to time have a professional artist to provide new ideas and help members progress further. After the next session the group will assemble at the local hostelry at 1:00pm where a lunch has been organised on their behalf.
SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: The groups’ next meeting scheduled for Tuesday 2nd February will be back at Sutton Village Hall, when local gardening expert John Stirland will advise on understanding seeds, fertilizers and manure.

SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: The council met on Wednesday 13th January in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm.
Chairman of the council, Ron Beare, presided over an almost full council, with only one apology received. Three members of the public were present, plus the local PCSO, Dave Airey. County Councillor Liz Yates and District Councillor Tracey Taylor were on hand to offer help and advice if necessary.
From the floor a member of the public brought to councils notice a document received in door to door distribution by I-Gas , a company involved in the search for shale gas and with a possible view to fracking in the area. Various points were outlined from the document and the members views were also put forward to council.
The council were aware of the situation and the matter was in fact an agenda item later in the evening. Questions were raised with regard to the new 20mph speed limit signs recently appearing in the village on Town Street although nowhere near the school. It would appear that these signs are part of a speed reduction programme and are only advisory – not compulsory! They are there to catch driver’s attention as they pass through the village on a busier part of main street. They are positioned where many children cross the road as they make their way to and from school on a daily basis.

- Planning
- Street signs and grass cutting to mention but a few.
MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The Neighbours Group met as arranged on Tuesday 12th January at the Gate Inn at 1:00pm with thirty-eight people in attendance. After eating their fill, the gathering took part in a simple quiz, which was followed by the usual raffle. One or two regulars were absent at this meeting but organisers were pleased to welcome some new members to the event, where they socialised with their peers during the afternoon.

SUTTON AND BARNBY MOOR WI: The ladies of the Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met in the Village Hall as scheduled on Wednesday 20th January and a report will follow next week.
