PARISH COUNCIL: At the last meeting of the Parish Council on Wednesday 10th February in the Village Hall at 7:15pm, Councillor Angela Close took the chair in the absence of Councillor Ron Bearer. The acting chair welcomed her fellow Councillors and members of the public to the meeting. Clerk to the Council, Nigel Johnson, was present to record the event, along with County Councillor Liz Yates who was available to support and advice if required. Various items came under review during the evening and formal discussions took place.
It has since been announced that former Chairman of the Council Ron Beare has resigned from the council due to health reasons. Ron has been involved with the council since 1984 and intended to stand down in May when the post of Council Chairman was up for renewal. A deterioration in general health brought this decision forward. He will still show a continuing interest in village events, health permitting.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The ladies met as scheduled on Wednesday 17th February in Sutton Village Hall when Alice Brackenbury was the guest speaker. The group are grateful to Alice who stepped in at short notice when the original speaker had to cancel due to a family bereavement. The speakers topic for the evening was a presentation on the worlds most superior Aloe Vera.
Aloe Vera has been used for thousands of years as a safe, natural herbal remedy. It is not new, and has a massive weight of historical and scientific evidence to testify to its efficacy. It can be used safely either externally on the skin or hair, or taken internally as a drink.
The thick, clear gel inside the leaf contains over 75 different key nutritional compounds which are either required or beneficial, including: Minerals Vitamins (including B12) Amino Acids Enzymes and more.
There are no known side effects or contra-indications; and no adverse drug reactions. It is safe for all ages – from infants to the elderly. Aloe Vera has many different benefits because of the number of nutrients that it contains. The benefits come from a synergy between the different nutrients, rather than as a consequence of one ‘magic’ ingredient.
Aloe Vera works with the body, simply providing excellent nutrition so that the body can take care of itself. It is moisturising for the skin, penetrating right down into its deepest layers. Aloe naturally modulates the immune system thus helping the body to defend itself.
Samples were available for the ladies to try. After a very informative and enjoyable evening Monica Hockenhull gave the customary vote of thanks. Refreshments were in the capable hands of Pauline Marsh and Monica Hockenhull.
