ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 13th March, Holy Communion will take place.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
WORK IN PROGRESS: Work has commenced on the wall bordering the paddock of Sutton Manor on Town Street (opposite the Gate Inn). The workings consist of repair and pointing of stonework and is expected to last approximately three weeks in total.
Drivers are urged to take extra care when approaching the area at any time and especially during the ongoing works as extra vehicles and pedestrians may be present.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The ladies will meet as scheduled on Wednesday 16th March in Sutton Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. This meeting will be the groups AGM and on the night the election of committee will take place. Ballot for committee, Financial Report, Annual Report, Nomination and Ballot for President will come under discussion and be decided.
Normally there is no invited speaker at the AGM, but who knows what surprises the ladies

SUTTON GARDENING CLUB: The group met on Tuesday 1st March at 7:15pm in Sutton Village Hall, when Stuart Dixon (Hebbes Farm) addressed the gathering about roses and clematis. A report will follow when to hand.

NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN: An informal drop-in event was held on Thursday 3rd March at the Village Hall between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Members of the Planning Team plus representatives from Bassetlaw District Council were on hand to welcome villagers to the session and answer any questions which arose from the very well presented displays on the information boards.
On the night ninety plus members of the public made a point of attending the event, many satisfied with the explanations given by Simon Bell and his team. The team was very well prepared and had neighbourhood plans, objectives, vision, polices, projects and site assessment reports ready to be scrutinised and questioned or explained where needed.
All the feedback received will be taken into consideration and used to help in the initial stages of the draft plan.
After all the information to hand has been collated the team will inform the village of the outcome and residents will be kept in the loop at each stage as the plan progresses.

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS: The group met on Tuesday 8th March at the usual time of 1:00pm at the Gate inn and enjoyed a meal in convivial company. A report will follow next week.
PARISH COUNCIL: The council held its monthly meeting on Wednesday 10th March
as scheduled and a update will follow.
QUIZ NIGHT AT THE GATE INN: One or two new faces at the Gate Inn quiz night. Pat was the Gates’ Quiz Master last Sunday and presented a 50 question topical Quiz incorporating a Picture Round. Teams were eager to do battle at 8:00pm.and concentration was high as they attempted a 50 questionaire on the night.
The team Les, Ken and Lee picked up the £18.00 prize with a very respectable 47 and a half points. Pablo’s in the Chair next week, see you at 8.00pm.
