COFFEE MORNING: It’s coffee morning again at the Village Hall on Saturday 16th July.
This is your chance to come along and meet friends and catch up on all the latest news and views from in and around the area. Once again villagers and friends are invited to call in for coffee and cake or tea and biscuits for a cover charge of only £2.00.

ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: Holy Communion took place at the church last Sunday as scheduled and the Celebration Service followed at 3:00pm when a congregation of over 100 people were in attendance. A detailed report will follow when to hand.
This Sunday the service will be a “Family Service”. Please come along and bring the family!
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE: The information regarding the members of the Village Hall Committee published last week were apparently incorrect. The list should have read as follows:
The present committee consists of: Chris Sulley (Chair), Kathryn Seddon’s (Secretary), Sharon Dyson (Treasurer) assisted by committee members, Frank Bradley, Paula Graham, Mavis Bradley, and Charmaine Perry.

FRIENDS OF DANESHILL LAKES: Great excitement recently at Daneshill Lakes nature reserve near Torworth, with the sighting of two oystercatcher chicks on the main island of the main lake. If visitors fail to see them at first they will no doubt hear the parents loud peeping calls. The Nottinghamshire Wild Life Trust, who manage this County Council site, are very proud of this result, confirming that the work carried out in winter by trust volunteers, members of the friends of Daneshill Lakes, Daneshill Sailing Club and others is paying off.
FAMILY FUN DAY: Should be in your diary! The Great Sutton show on Sunday 17th July between 10:00am and 3:00pm. It’s a family fun day featuring a dog show, bouncy castle, games and rides with many stalls and fun for everyone. All are welcome. The event will be at Sutton-cum-Lound C of E school. Please offer your support.
GATE INN: Every Sunday night is quiz night at the local hostelry, commencing at 8:00pm.
A unique quiz format has been created where the Quizmasters are the regulars themselves. They take turns in delivering their very own quiz. Every quiz is different covering topics from General Knowledge, Music, and even video quizzes. All contestants can have a go at being quiz masters, or as many do just participate in the quiz to win either £15 or £25 prize
on offer The quiz is followed by a “Play Your Cards Right” game where the maximum prize that can be won is £100. All welcome.
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: When the ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor WI next meet, on Wednesday 20th July, a treat lays in store for them.
“Chinese Cookery” is the topic on that date and Shan Chen Handley will be talking about and perhaps demonstrating the finer points of foods from the orient and beyond.

PRE-LOVED ITEMS AND CAR BOOT SALE: Discussions are on-going with regards to holding table-top and car boot sales on a regular basis at the Village Hall. The next date for an event at the village hall will be Sunday 24th July at 10:00am start. (sellers 9:00am).

SUTTON PARISH COUNCIL: The Parish Council met on Wednesday evening 13th July in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:00pm. A report will follow.
