If you like to recycle but struggle to take your garden waste to the recycling centres in Retford and Worksop, help could soon be at hand with a new scheme from Bassetlaw District Council.
A new Garden Waste collection will be available to residents from March 2017 and the Council is asking people who would like to be part of this new paid for service to register their interest.
For just £30 per year, the Council will be making fortnightly collections for nine months of the year between March and November. The fee includes an additional 240 litre wheelie bin, in which you’ll be able to place grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, small branches and twigs, dead plants, weeds and cut flowers.
Cllr Julie Leigh, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “This is a fantastic new service that will be introduced for residents next year for a cost of less than 60p per week, should they wish to sign up for it.
“Following the consultation on a garden waste collection, which included asking residents how much they would be prepared to pay for this service, we are now keen to offer residents this extra collection and make it easier for the public to recycle more.”
In order to identify the areas of the district which are likely to create the most amount of demand, the Council is asking residents to register their interest prior to its launch in March 2017.
