
ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 18th September a “Family Service” will
take place. Please come along and bring the family.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
LOCAL BURLARY: Between 19:00 hours on 05/09/2016 and 11:00 hours on 06/09/2016 a property on Mire Lane, Sutton cum Lound was burgled. The lock on the rear door had been forced to gain entry and an untidy search was conducted of a number of rooms. Incident number 000645-06092016 relates. If anyone saw anything suspicious in that area and around those times please contact the control room on 101 quoting the incident number above.
RAILWAY CROSSING: A barrier malfunction left a car stuck in the middle of the railway crossing last Wednesday evening of 7th September at about 7:00pm. The car did eventually move off but the barriers remained in the half open/half closed position with the warning lights still flashing. Traffic, including farm vehicles, were queued along Station road almost to the junction with Town Street. The gates were closed when a train approach but failed to open after its departure. Four trains later the barriers still remain closed, but a Rapid Response unit from Network Rail arrived and advised waiting motorists to turn around and find alternative routes.
The road remained closed for approximately 3 hours whilst the fault was rectified and normal service was resumed.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING: The Parish Council met on Wednesday 14th September in the Village Hall at the usual time of 7:15pm. An update will follow when to hand.
PRE-LOVED ITEMS AND CAR BOOT SALE: The next table-top and car boot sale will be held at the Village Hall on Sunday 25th September with a 10:00am start. (Sellers 9;00am). Please note that all indoor pitches have now been taken but plenty of room for car booters at £5.00 per pitch.

JAZZ NIGHT: The Village Hall committee have been busy trying to organise various events to take place in the Village Hall over the coming months. Still a way off but well worth noting in your diaries, especially Jazz Lovers. The committee have secured the services of Edinburgh based Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer, a jazz saxophonist and piano duo who are gaining rave reviews as they go from concert to concert up and down the country.
The event has been arranged for Friday 21st October and tickets for the evening are £10.00 and a licensed bar will be available. The date for ticket sales will be announced in due course.
HALLOWEEN PARTY: A Halloween party is being organise by the Village Hall committee. The event will take place on Saturday 29th October in the Village Hall.
There will be the usual Halloween activities and fancy dress of course, with prizes for the best fancy dress outfits. Further detail will follow when all arrangements are completed.
DICKENS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL: The Village Hall committee have persuaded local resident Judith Hedley to produce another Food and Fiction evening in the Village Hall. This will take place in December and details will be announced nearer the time.
Many local residents will remember the previous successful presentation of “Tea with Mr. Darcy” and this Christmas special should prove to be just as popular. Don’t miss it!
PIPES AND DRUMS: Retford and District Pipes and Drums still have a few vacancies for people who are interested in music. Tuition is available for people who wish to learn to play the bagpipes or drums! The group meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at Barnby Moor Village Hall, Kennel Drive, Barnby Moor, Retford DN22 8QU.

QUIZ NIGHT: A good turnout at the Gate Inn for this increasingly popular event, various team competing for the much sought after cash prize. After a hard fought contest amid a lot of jovial banter the winning team on the night was declared as <this space deliberately left blank>. Congratulations !!
