ST.BARTHOLOMEW’S CHURCH: At the local church on Sunday 30th October, a service for
“All Saints Day” will take place.
The service starts at 9:30am and everyone is welcome.
HALLOWEEN PARTY: Don’t forget its party night at the Village Hall 0n Saturday night (29th October) starting at 6:00pm. There will be the usual Halloween activities, apple bobbin’ and fancy dress of course, with prizes for the best fancy dress outfits (to be judged at 7:30pm).
Entry is free!! Bring your own food. Bar will be open. Witches and Warlocks welcome. Fun for all. Are you brave enough to attend?
PIMP YOUR PUMPKIN: Pimp your Pumpkin – decorate the street with your pumpkins. Open to all householders, again prizes for best decorated pumpkins. Have you got your yet?
DOG TRAINING: Dog training sessions are starting shortly in the Village Hall. This is a 6 week course starting on 31st October at a cost of £56.00 per dog. Puppy training will commence at 6:00pm to 7:00pm with general obedience following at 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

GARDENING CLUB: On Tuesday 1st November members are invited to attend the monthly meeting in the Village Hall at 7:15pm when speaker Don Witton will address the group about Winter Survival kit.
COMPUTER CLUB: Computer Sessions are being held from Monday 14th November from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the Village Hall. The cost is £5.00 per person, payable at the event.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The ladies of Sutton and Barnby Moor WI met in Sutton Village Hall on Wednesday 19th October at 7:15pm. President Ann Fraser presided over a good turn-out on the night with some new members and visitors present.
The president introduced the speaker for the evening, Mrs Sue Clifton who addressed the members on the subject of: “The Birds in your Garden”.
This very informative talk was accompanied by a Power Point presentation. and depicted various types of birds likely to be found in your garden. The speaker let the group listen to birds songs and calls made especially during the mating season, this helping to identify the various species. On completion of the talk member Christin Abbott gave the customary vote of thanks. The official business then took place.
A discussion took place regarding a proposed trip to the Dukeries Garden Centre and Harley Gallery at Welbeck, which members voted in favour of. JAZZ NIGHT: The jazz night held at the Village Hall on Friday 21st October was a reasonably well attended event, but turned out to be one of the villages’ bigger successes in terms of bringing live music to the rural communities!
Jazz fans were in for a treat when saxophonist Ian Miller and pianist Dominic Spencer brought their creative style of jazz to the Village Hall. This duo have been playing together for many years producing their own imitable style of jazz, including many standards as well as original compositions in their repertoire. They have played in various jazz festivals up and down the country including, Edinburgh Jazz Festival, Glasgow Festival, Borders jazz Festival and have achieved further success as they moved South to perform at the Buxton Fringe Festival and the Bath Fringe Festival, earning high accolades at such events.
They were well received on the night and those present were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the sounds and musical expertise produced by the combo during the evening.
CAR BOOT AND TABLE TOP SALE: Last Sundays’ car boot and table top sale seemed to gather momentum this time around with more buyers and sellers present than on previous occasions. This is mainly due to the efforts of sale collator Judy Walters and friends.
A few people came for a nose round, some finding bargains on the day and stopping for refreshments as they cast their eyes over the goods on offer, others were on a mission to find any bargains available at reasonable prices. Many pitches have been pre-booked for the next sale, some pitches still available !!
