GATE INN QUIZ NIGHT: Another well attended event at the local hostelry on Sunday 30th October when more teams gathered for the ever popular quiz night. No chance for the local teams this week as the winners were declared as “The Worksop Mob”. Yes, yet again, they won and collected the cash prize on offer! Can anyone stop them? They are on a roll!
They are now throwing down the gauntlet and looking for serious challengers. Can you stop them? Is there any local teams that can? Think it over and get to the Gate on Sunday night for an 8’oclock start!
GARDENING CLUB MEETING: When the club held their monthly meeting in the Village Hall at 7:15pm on Tuesday 1st November, members attending the event were expecting to hear speaker Don Witton address the group about Winter Survival kit.
Unfortunately the scheduled speaker was unable to attend on the night, but the organisers were alert and immediately searched and found another speaker for the evening. Steve Lovell bridged the gap and spoke about – Shrubs and Landscape Design.
Don Witton formerly in the programme was as stated unable to make the meeting but will now be a speaker in 2017 programme.
HALLOWEEN PARTY: The Halloween Party held in the Village Hall on Saturday night was a well-attended event with more people coming through the door than anticipated!
Members of the village hall committee were on hand to welcome villagers and friends to this community event organised by the committee and put on free for residents and the village kids as a way of saying thank-you to them for their valued support over the past year.
Without that support the Village Hall would struggle to survive.
Details of winners of the fancy dress and other competitions will be published as soon as final details are to hand.
PIMP YOUR PUMPKIN: Members of the local Gardening Club were busy on Monday evening, not Trick or treating, but looking round the village to see who had pimped the best pumpkin? Was it you or yours? Find out next week when the results will be published! Fingers crossed!
DOG TRAINING: Dog training sessions started on Monday 31st October in the Village Hall, and again a report will follow when to hand.
JAZZ NIGHT: After the recent success of the jazz night held at the Village Hall on Friday 21st October, which was a reasonably well attended event and turned out to be one of the villages’ bigger successes in terms of bringing live music to the rural communities!
Apparently quite a few villagers have expressed a wish for more of the same or similar, not necessarily jazz again but any musical evenings that would bring residents together to socialise locally and without the need for transport. Seems sensible?
